Earlier this year, Mark Lewis of Lewis's Farm Shop invited me to run the Chester Half Marathon with him. Although I run regularly, I had never run such a distance before, so it was quite a daunting proposition! I was convinced when he asked me to join him in raising money for Nightingale House Hospice, a cause close to both our hearts.
On Sunday, we laced up our trainers and joined an amazing crowd of runners. As we stood at the start line, the anticipation was palpable. The cheers of fellow runners, the support of family and friends, and the knowledge that every penny would go to such a good cause fueled our determination to succeed. The Chester Half Marathon course showcases the scenic beauty of the city. It offers a mixture of urban and rural landscapes, which made it an interesting run. Mark and I embraced the challenge, and he pushed me to reach new personal milestones. The camaraderie of the participants, volunteers and supporters kept us going. We were particularly grateful to the volunteers who manned the water stations along the route. Mark was a great running partner. His steady pace and encouragement helped us get through the miles. When we crossed the finish line, I felt both accomplished, empowered and relieved! The knowledge that our run was helping the hospice added to our sense of achievement. The desire to make a positive impact for Nightingale House Hospice, a charity that provides essential care and support for people with life-limiting illnesses, was our driving force throughout the training and run. The funds raised are used to ensure that those in need receive the best possible care. To everyone who has generously donated to Nightingale House through Mark's Just Giving page, https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/lewisfarmshop, your contributions will make a significant difference. Thank you for your kindness, your belief in the cause, and for supporting us along the way. Comments are closed.
